This first Sunday in the Advent period is the start up for Christmas. This is the time when we lit the candles in our Advent decorations. We love this time of the year where we get to do a bit of extra decoration and the ferm LIVING hanging Christmas ornaments are finally allowed to see the light of day...
A very nice Danish tradition is to make "æbleskiver" - you can compare them to round pan cakes. You eat them with your fingers and dip them in powder sugar and marmelade - uhmmm. They are traditionally served with glogg during the Advent.
If you feel inspired here is the recipe:
4 persons- 30 pieces
2 egg whites
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon white sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 egg yolks
4 tablespoons butter, melted
2 cups buttermilk
1 cup vegetable oil for frying
In a clean glass or metal bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until they can hold a stiff peak. Set aside.
Mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, sugar, egg yolks, melted butter and buttermilk at one time and beat until smooth. Gently fold in the egg whites last.
Put about 1tablespoon of vegetable oil in the bottom of each aebleskiver pan cup and heat until hot. Pour in about 2 tablespoons of the batter into each cup. As soon as they get bubbly around the edge, turn them quickly (Danish cooks use a long knitting needle, but a fork will work). Continue cooking, turning the ball to keep it from burning.

Together with the famous Danish department store Magasin, we have made an exclusive Christmas collection with untraditional decorative items for Christmas. We are very proud of the result. If you have the possibility, you should go to Magasin Kgs. Nytorv, Copenhagen, to see the entire range presented.

As part of “Christmas in Magasin”, Magasin in Aarhus, Denmark we were asked to come into the department store and set a Christmas table – the tables are placed around the store for shoppers to be inspired.
It's day 7 of Design Within Reach's DWR Limited. Each day they reveal a new limited item - and today's item is our felt Holiday Ornaments! We love this kind of Christmas Calender and we cannot wait to see what tomorrow's item is.

Last week, Trine and Mette went to sunny Madrid, Spain to promote ferm LIVING. Our Spanish distributor had arranged a press event at Batavia – a local ferm LIVING retailer – and the turn out was incredible. We were very pleased with the event and think that the Spanish media was well introduced to our products. The location for the event was perfect. Batavia has a wide range of amazing vintage furniture combined with new design items. There were so many things we wanted to bring home! Be inspired by Batavia’s projects and go hunting for vintage finds at www.batavia.es

We all have a million little projects at home that we really want to do, but we never really get around to it... In "Velkommen Hjem", a Danish television show, friends or family members sign their parents, siblings, neighbourghs etc up for professional help in the decoration department - and boy do they get help! A crew of designers and carpenters team up with friends and family to renovate the house while the houseowners are out of town. The results are amazing and we are so happy that the design team has chosen to use some of our products in the show - when you see the look on people's faces when they come home to a newly renovated kithcen or living room it is more than worth it to donate a few rolls of wallpaper and some mugs! We are looking forward to seeing the next episode - and who knows, maybe your home is next!
