We haven't been blogging for a couple of days, as we monday morning braved the snowy and freezing weather and went to Copenhagen for a photoshoot of the brand new SS10 collection. The pictures will end up in the next ferm LIVING catalogue. Sneak peaks of the new collection will be posted in the next couple of weeks.
Christmas was so much cooler in the old days where Mom was decorating the Christmas Tree while Dad was hanging out with Santa Claus. So go nostagic and get in the perfect Christmas mood with this amazing blog.
When we woke up this morning Denmark was all covered in snow. It is all white outside - it looks SO BEAUTIFUL, and really gets the Christmas spirit going! These days people from all over the world are gathered in Copenhagen to come up with solutions to stop global warming. We cross our fingers that they come to an agreement and make sure that we will be able to see fascinating scenery like this in the future.
Here at the office we are addicted to TO DO lists! We have them next to us all day long, looking at them several times during the day. So we thought that we would add a bit of design to our indispensable lists, since they are so important to us. Feel free to print some out for your own use if you, like us, need help to keep focused. GET TO WORK!!!
I can not live without these beautiful, old and practical Bauhaus storage boxes. Originally they were designed as food containers to go into your fridge, but here they are placed in the window next to my desk, and contain all kinds of small bits and pieces.
At casasugar.com you can vote for your favourite wallpaper company of 2009. We are so happy and proud to see that ferm LIVING is represented on the list, and even more to learn that we (today) are number one with 37% of the votes! We would love if you vote for us at casasugar. Thank you!

This wonderful picture just popped in our mailbox. Our friends from Copenhagen, Heidi and Claus, have used our plywood christmas trees to create their "White Christmas" universe. Thanks for sharing with us!
This friday we had our annual X-Mas party where we, after a good traditional Danish X-Mas lunch with herring and snaps, headed out to the Royal Casino in Århus for a little fun and gambling. Unfortunately, almost all of us went home emptyhanded with a lot less money than we came with. It's gonna we a long time before we'll gamble again.
This summer we launched a brand new Wallpaper collection. We call it The Very Special Collection. Printed using the traditional old school surface printing technique, that dates back to the early 1800's.
Here are some pictures of our range of Christmas Ornaments and Decorations made in cooperation with Magasin (Danish department store). This first Sunday in the Advent period is the start up for Christmas. This is the time when we lit the candles in our Advent decorations. We love this time of the year where we get to do a bit of extra decoration and the ferm LIVING hanging Christmas ornaments are finally allowed to see the light of day...
A very nice Danish tradition is to make "æbleskiver" - you can compare them to round pan cakes. You eat them with your fingers and dip them in powder sugar and marmelade - uhmmm. They are traditionally served with glogg during the Advent.
If you feel inspired here is the recipe:
4 persons- 30 pieces
2 egg whites 2 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 tablespoon white sugar 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 egg yolks 4 tablespoons butter, melted 2 cups buttermilk 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
In a clean glass or metal bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until they can hold a stiff peak. Set aside. Mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, sugar, egg yolks, melted butter and buttermilk at one time and beat until smooth. Gently fold in the egg whites last. Put about 1tablespoon of vegetable oil in the bottom of each aebleskiver pan cup and heat until hot. Pour in about 2 tablespoons of the batter into each cup. As soon as they get bubbly around the edge, turn them quickly (Danish cooks use a long knitting needle, but a fork will work). Continue cooking, turning the ball to keep it from burning.
Together with the famous Danish department store Magasin, we have made an exclusive Christmas collection with untraditional decorative items for Christmas. We are very proud of the result. If you have the possibility, you should go to Magasin Kgs. Nytorv, Copenhagen, to see the entire range presented.
As part of “Christmas in Magasin”, Magasin in Aarhus, Denmark we were asked to come into the department store and set a Christmas table – the tables are placed around the store for shoppers to be inspired.
